In his most recent work, the artist recreates a figurative image of a false, prideful king, with the infamous Tower of Babel sprouting atop its head. According to Tanedo, Babel’s colossal crowning is a mere symbolism of chaos, confusion and the insatiable human desire to acquire excess wealth/power and self preservation. It also signifies that the crown, like his rule is fragile and is subject to deterioration and eventual, crumbling destruction. The artist also stated that the king’s uneasy positioning on his artificial throne of power is basically similar to the haunting feeling of guilt that pierces its doer’s soul the moment he resorts to wickedness. The blood on his hands symbolizes the permanent stain of sin in its perpetrator’s soul.
