Gerry Joquico Jr. is a Far Eastern University Fine Arts Advertising graduate who first pursued his career in interior design and landed his first job as a furniture draftsman. However, his innate talent and passion for painting soon took hold not only of his life, but also of his present career. As an artist, his works are based on a somewhat filipiniana feel, in fusion with the modern approach to art, as he sees it globally. A somewhat nostalgic feel but deliberately fused with the elements bounded by spirituality. He is an admirer of the impressionist works of Renoir, Rembrandt, Matisse and of our local artists MANANSALA and Bencab. Technically, his works delves within the use of charcoal and lead, fusing it with the textures and liquefied drippings...craquelures and layered colorwashes, which are just like knitting over knits.
