Despite the overpowering paradox of beauty and disproportional grotesquery in this painting, the artist has a very simple, yet deep message regarding the concept of power and greed. It is highly noticeable that the crown is carelessly perched atop the creature’s head, purposely bearer with its thick coating of greasy color mixtures. The crown simply symbolizes power, and how it blinds if carrier if wielded the wrong way. Sweet escape This painting shows the delusive escape of someone from the burdensome afflictions of this world. Ironically, the figure drifts amidst the calm blue sky while sleeping as if daydreaming. This symbolizes the figures escape from the ground, which actually represents the depressing closures of reality. Sweet escape, in a sense that the figure flies in a dreamy, delusory state in order to escape the cruel clutches of the real world.
